Apollo, SIMTICS Join Forces to Train Medical Personnel

Partnership with New Zealand-based firm is for an online method to learn complex medical procedures

Medvarsity, a medical e-learning initiative by Apollo Hospital Group, and a software company from New Zealand, SIMTICS have joined hands to offer an online method for medical and allied health students in India to learn complex medical procedures.

“By studying the SIMTICS modules online, at their own pace, our customers will be able to learn the steps of a procedure, which instrument to use and where to apply it, and the relevant anatomical structures. This means that they will be better prepared and can concentrate on more advanced aspects when they are exposed to clinical time in a hospital,” says Sanjiv Zutshi, CEO, Medvarsity Online. “Medvarsity is delighted to have secured the right to distribute the unique SIMTICS solution in India,” he adds.

Cherry Vanderbeke, General Manager, SIMTICS, says India is a key market for the technology. “It was extremely important for SIMTICS to identify a partner that shares similar goals to us, that understands the education requirements of the local healthcare sector in India, and that can reach customers through a national network while providing first class service and support,” says Vanderbeke.

“Medvarsity is strong across all these criteria and we are excited about our new partnership, which will allow SIMTICS to move the business forward in this key strategic market,” she adds.

Medvarsity Online will act as a reseller for SIMTICS in India and will provide the SIMTICS clinical procedure simulations online through both standalone and incorporated into certificate courses.

Medvarsity has also entered into an alliance with skill training company, IndiaCan to offer a Post Graduation Diploma in Dietetics & Clinical Nutrition (PGDDCN). IndiaCan-Medvarsity Diploma will provide students across the country with a chance to learn the content drafted by industry experts from Apollo through the technology of IndiaCan. This will be a 12-month course through VSAT, video lectures and course books.

The programme also includes an intensive 15-day hands-on internship in one of the Apollo Hospitals across India under the guidance of Dietician/Nutritionist from Apollo Hospital apart from a joint certification both by Medvarsity (Apollo) and IndiaCan.
